Recent Covid Restrictions In Turkey
Turkey is still one of the few popular destinations that accept all the tourists from anywhere in the World. After the beginning of the spread, when the cases are lowered, everything had turned to be normal in daily life with cautions, these days, when the weather becomes colder each day, the government decided to take further measures to prevent the breakout starting from November 20th, 2020.
Due to the latest restrictions, potential tourists will also get affected. Visitors will not have the chance to experience the famous Turkish Cuisine in the restaurants as many of them will be closed and the rest will only be allowed to offer takeouts or deliver.
Meanwhile, the touristic spots such as the beautiful mosques such as Sultanahmet and Suleymaniye, Ottoman palaces like Topkapi and Dolmabahce, famous shopping streets as Istiklal and Kadikoy and Grand Bazaar and Spice Market are open for visits except for the underground cisterns. During the visits, social distancing is enforced, the capacity is kept minimal and everybody is obliged to wear masks. This is also applicable for public transportation, passenger, and cruise boats on the Bosphorus.
The other major precaution is the curfew for the locals on weekends. As people gather together especially at the weekends, to minimize the spread, it is not allowed for locals to go out between 8 pm and 10 am.
Curfew order is for locals only, there is no curfew at any time for the tourist, and the restaurants and stores at the airports stay open 24 hours. Curfew is not applied on Fridays, though.
However, this does not mean that you will be able to at least have a glance at the nightlife in the city cause also bars, pubs, clubs, etc. are closed at 8 pm regarding the regulations. All these actions would clearly make the ones who consider Istanbul for a weekend escape or a holiday think twice and impact the market accordingly. Still, it is obvious that human life is above everything and we have to follow these rules to turn everything back to normal.
